About Unseen India
Unseen India helps you see how much of the country you have explored, and inspires you to discover the rest.
India has 28 states and 8 union territories, hundreds of districts and countless places most of us never get to. Unseen India turns your travels into a map you can share, and pairs it with practical guides, a trip planner and a quiz to keep you curious.
Map data
The map follows the official boundaries of India. District boundaries are based on the 2011 census, so districts created since then are counted within their parent district.
Travel information
Guide content is researched for general planning. Fees, timings, permits and road conditions change, so always confirm with official sources before you travel.
Languages
Unseen India is available in 12 languages. Translations are machine-assisted, so if you spot a mistake, please write to us.
Good to know
How do I make my India travel map?
Choose States, Cities or Districts, then tap the places you have visited on the map or in the list. Add your name, pick a colour and a style, and download your map as PNG, JPG or PDF. No sign-up needed.
Can I search by old city names like Bangalore or Bombay?
Yes. Search understands popular old and alternate names, such as Bangalore, Bombay, Calcutta, Gurgaon, Cochin and Allahabad, and finds the right city or district.
Can I mark districts instead of states?
Yes. Switch to Districts to choose from 724 districts. District boundaries follow the 2011 census, so newer districts are counted within the district they were carved from.
Does the map show India's official boundaries?
Yes. The map shows the full territory of India, including all of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, as per Government of India maps.
Is my data stored anywhere?
No. Your selections are saved only in your own browser. Shared links carry your map inside the link itself.
